The iPhone DevTeam formally announces the availability of “QuickPwn”.

This tool is the proof of concept tool to demonstrate the “QuickPwning” of devices without the need for an iTunes based restore. This tool is best suited for users who do not need a custom firmware with specific custom features. For casual users the tool is more convenient as you do not need to make a full new IPSW and use iTunes with it, but the end result is that your device is Pwned and jailbroken.

The tool currently works with 2.0.1 firmware iPhones and iPods.

QuickPwn and PwnageTool do not yet offer a software unlock for the 3G baseband.
